This is a starter kit, not an exhaustive security framework. It covers the most commonly overlooked basics. Use it as a first line of defence — not the last.

Environment Check

Confirm before deployment

Is this a clean, isolated environment with no legacy projects living in it? Are there any files, folders, or repositories the agent can reach that weren't intentionally scoped? Has sensitive data — HR files, financial documents, board materials — been explicitly excluded from agent access?

Identity and Access

Verify every credential in scope

Does every API token and service account have a named human owner? Is access scoped to the minimum required — nothing broader? Do any tokens grant privileged access to systems outside the project scope? Are there any orphaned credentials from previous projects still active in this environment?

Blast Radius

Understand the worst case before it happens

Can you map everything this agent can reach in under 10 minutes? Have you defined the worst case scenario if this agent is manipulated? Is that worst case acceptable — and has someone signed off on it?

Decommission Plan

Plan the end before you begin

When this project ends, who is responsible for revoking access? Is there a date or trigger defined for access review? Has the decommission process been documented before launch — not after?

A note on scope

This checklist is a starting point. Every enterprise environment carries its own complexity, risk profile, and regulatory context. A comprehensive AI agent governance framework goes significantly deeper.
